Ingredients

  • Butter                            110 g
  • Golden Syrup               150 g (or with granulated sugar 91g plus water 47.5g)
  • Granulated Sugar          39 g
  • Orange Marmalade       75 g
  • Milk                               175 ml
  • Egg                               1
  • Plain White Flour          280 g
  • Baking Powder             2 tsp
  • Bicarbonate of Soda     1 tsp
  • Salt pinch

Program 7 – Quick Bread

Time: 2 hours 8 minutes


Method

  • Place the butter, syrup, sugar and marmalade in a small saucepan and heat gently until melted, stirring occasionally.  Leave to cool slightly then pour into the bread pan
  • Add the milk and egg
  • Sift the flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and salt and add to the pan
  • Insert and lock the bread pan into the bread maker
  • Select program 7
  • After 6 minutes mixing, scrape down with a plastic spatula to ensure all the ingredients are incorporated

Making a Sticky Orange Marmalade Cake




Variations

Finish the cake with a topping after baking and cooling.  Mix together 140g full fat soft cheese or mascarpone cheese, 40g sifted icing sugar and 15ml (1 tbsp) cut mixed peel or orange marmalade.  Spread over the top of the cake.
