Chilli and Cheddar Cheese Bread




500g loaf

  • Sunflower Oil/Vegetable Oil                      2 tsp
  • Red Chillies, De-Seeded and Chopped    1-2
  • Water                                                         180ml
  • Semi-Skimmed Milk                                   60ml
  • Unbleached White Bread Flour                  300g
  • Wholemeal Bread Flour                             50g
  • Mature Cheddar Cheese, Grated               50g
  • Salt                                                             1 tsp
  • Sugar                                                         1 tsp
  • Easy Blend Dried Yeast                             1 tsp

Method in preparing red chille:

Place the oil and chillies in a small frying pan and saute over a medium heat for 3-4 minutes, until softened.  Set aside to cool.  Add to the pan with the liquids.

Add the ingredients to the pan in the order listed in the recipe above.

Kneading 2 (rapid)       31 min
Rise 1                          26 min
Kneading 3 (rapid)      15 sec
Rise 2                          25 min
Kneading 4 (rapid)      15 sec
Rise 3                          55 min
Baking                         45 min
Total time                   3:05 hrs


Substitute Red Chillies with one Red/Yello Bell pepper plus 1 tsp red chilli powder.
